SMS Consent Workflow

This public page documents the exact, optional web opt-in process used by the What We Doing Next SMS Program. The authenticated profile page uses the same phone-number field, unchecked consent control, and disclosure shown below.

Profile opt-in path

  1. The user creates or signs in to their own What We Doing Next account.
  2. The user visits https://whatwedoingnext.com/profile/edit.
  3. The user enters their own mobile number in international format.
  4. The user affirmatively checks the SMS consent box, which is unchecked by default. The profile can be saved and the complete service used without checking it.
  5. The user selects “Save Changes.” The application records the time and web-form source of consent. SMS is not sent unless a valid number and affirmative consent are both present.

Use international format, including the country code.

By checking this optional box and saving, you agree to receive recurring automated transactional text messages from What We Doing Next about trip invitations, itinerary changes, announcements, reminders, and transportation updates at the mobile number above. Message frequency varies with trip activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of using the service. See our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

These disabled controls are a public, non-submitting representation for carrier review. The authenticated Profile form is the operative form.

Email-invitation opt-in path

  1. A trip organizer requests an invitation, but no SMS is sent initially.
  2. The invitee receives an email containing a unique consent link on this domain.
  3. The consent page shows the destination number in masked form, the full program disclosures, and an unchecked box.
  4. Only the invitee can affirmatively check the box and select “Agree and send my text invitation.” The application records the timestamp, source, disclosure version, IP address, and user agent before sending the transactional invitation SMS.
  5. The invitee may decline by closing the page and can still use the email invitation.
